In Part 2 of the Introduction to Flash Action Script Course, you'll continue building on the skills introduced in Part 1. This session will focus on Targets, Pathing, Functions & Events, creating CGI Input Forms, Preloaders and working with External Text Files. You will have 2 weeks to complete each lesson and create your own movies. At the completion of this course you will be able to create a fully functional Flash web site.
Learning Objectives: The first lesson will pick up where we stopped in Part 1 by exploring pathing, creating functions and event handlers. Special emphasis will be focused on navigation. This first lesson is exercise intensive -- there is a lot of ground to cover. At the end of this lesson you will apply the exercises to using Flash Navigation within a basic Flash web site.
In the second lesson, we will learn how to use Flash and CGI forms to allow interactivity with your web site visitors. In order to gain the maximum benefit from this lesson your web host should offer/allow CGI scripts, such as Formmail. Other methods of interaction to be explored include search functions and advanced site navigation. At the end of this
lesson you will have a chance to create intermediate web site offering multiple methods of interaction and navigation.
In the final lesson of this two-part course, you will learn multiple methods of controlling the loading of your movies and their assets, and how to use external text files to populate variables in your Action Script. For your final presentation you will be required to create a web site template and use all the techniques explored in both sessions of this class.
